Mountain View offers both public and private schooling options for children in Kindergarten through 12th grades. The area's schools are divided into two districts. The Mountain View-Whisman School District includes seven elementary schools and two middle schools, while the Mountain View-Los Altos Union High School District consists of three public high schools. Some residents on the outer edge of the city also attend two elementary schools and a middle school in Los Altos.
