High-rise Living in Tulsa, OK

Tulsa is a metropolitan city of over 400,000 people located in the northwest section of Oklahoma. There are a lot of different condo and loft options for residents who want to live in and around downtown Tulsa now.

History of Tulsa

A clan from the Muscogee tribe settled in present day Tulsa around the late 1820s to 1830s. They named the area “Tulasi.” The word means “Old Town.” Over time, people moved to the area and a small town took hold, and Tulsa the city was then incorporated in 1898. Everything changed for Tulsa when at the beginning of the 20th Century, oil was found near the city. Soon, the area exploded with growth as people came to the area looking for jobs and opportunity. In fact, Tulsa was known as the “Oil Capital of the World.” The formation of U.S. Highway 66 brought travelers and visitors to the town. LIke most of the The economy of Tulsa suffered greatly in 1982 when the price of oil dropped dramatically. The economy has rebounded as the city has sought to diversify in business dealings other than solely with the oil industry.

Living in Tulsa

Tulsa has over 100 parks within the city limits, and one of the largest and most popular is Chandler Park. The park has playgrounds, picnic areas, walking paths, a swimming pool and much more. In addition to this, there is an 18-hole Frisbee golf course. There are plenty of sporting activities to participate in for kids, youth and adults. In the summer months, families can take advantage of the water parks and water pads that are in Tulsa. Local community centers provide education, activities and fellowship with other people within various neighborhoods and the community. The Tulsa Zoo has some unique exhibits, including the Tropical American Rain Forest, the Asian Area and the Children’s Zoo. Tulsa is home to a professional WNBA team, the Tulsa Shock, who plays at The Bank of Oklahoma Center, known to residents as the BOK Center. The Oklahoma Aquarium, which has a variety of fish including sharks, brings kids and adults into a new, fascinating water world. One of the largest museums in Tulsa is the Gilcrease Museum, which has various gardens and exhibits of Native American and American West art. The Tulsa Performing Arts Center is home to the Tulsa Symphony Orchestra and has opera, ballet and much more.

Tulsa Schools

Tulsa is home to the largest school district in the state. In addition to public schools, there are many private schools in and around Tulsa. For higher education there is the University of Tulsa.
