History of Reno
Original inhabitants of the Reno area were the Martis natives who were a hunter & gatherer community from 2000 BCE to 500 CE. It wasn't until the pioneers first came and settled during the 1850's that Reno started to form a new community. This community didn't begin booming until 1931 when Reno legalized gambling and the least strict laws on divorce in the country. Although Reno is still known for casinos, it is now also known for the the beautiful nature including Lake Tahoe.

Reno is a city on the western side of Nevada which is very close to the California border. The city has 300 days of sunshine per year, but does get quite cool in the winter with lows below freezing for a round of snowball fights to occur. The summer months are warm and can be up to nearly 100 degrees. The 2010 census estimated 225,000 residents live in the city of Reno. The University of Nevada, Reno is located here and is one of the largest employers following just behind Washoe County School District.
