If you like to have a more natural setting, live on the East Side or Bay view to enjoy a picturesque view of one of the three rivers that flow into Lake Michigan. No matter what your preference is, our real estate experts can help you find the right home to fit your lifestyle.

History of Milwaukee

The name Milwaukee came from the original inhabitants of the area, the Potawatomi, calling it "minwaking" meaning "place of gathering (by the water)". The first Europeans to arrive were French missionaries and traders in the late 1780's. It wasn't until 1880-1910 that Milwaukee was part of the influx of the 2.7 million German speaking immigrants coming to the US that made 34% of Milwaukee's population first generation Germans by 1910. This explains why there is still such wonderful celebrations of German heritage to this day such as the grand Oktoberfest celebrations every year.

About Milwaukee

Milwaukee currently has about 600,000 residents over 96.8 miles making it the largest city in Wisconsin. It is about 90 miles north of its sister city Chicago. Milwaukee is home to some large economic players like Manpower, Harley-Davidson, Rockwell Automation, Miller and Kohl’s.

Located along Lake Michigan, Milwaukee has a culture of exploration and innovation. Residents enjoy windsurfing, sailing and gazing at the vast beautiful lake. One notable iconic destination on the lake is the Milwaukee Art Museum which not only boasts 30,000 pieces of art, but also has the most incredible modern and unique architectural building designed by Santiago Calatrava called the Quadracci Pavilion.

The weather in Milwaukee is extremely different season to season. The summer months are in the 70's and humid and the winter months are in the 20's and snowy. Despite this, Milwaukee residents still get out and about during the winter month and participate in snowmobiling, ice fishing, skiing, sledding, tobogganing and meeting their friends up for a refreshing lager knowing the spring is on the way.
