Morningside was founded in the 1930s and is one of Atlanta’s most exclusive intown neighborhoods. 18 stone and brick monuments prominently mark entrances to Morningside which is bordered by Virginia-Highland, Ansley Park and Druid Hills. It includes the neighborhoods of Lenox Park, University Park, Noble Park, Johnson Estates, and Hylan Park. Morningside also encompasses a number of park spaces so, in addition to great shops and restaurants, there’s a lot of room for outdoor activities and walking.
When Morningside was developed, the original residents built Craftsman, Tudor, English cottage, midcentury ranch, and French country style homes, which is mostly what you’ll find today. There is also a stretch of significant Mediterranean style homes on Sherwood Road.
Morningside, much like Virginia-Highland, has an active neighborhood association called the Morningside Lenox Park Association. This group sponsors a tour of homes, a yearly ball and a concert series.
