Twenty years ago downtown Houston was a ghost town at night and on the weekends. But now you'd never know that as lofts, condos, restaurants, night clubs and theaters mark nearly every block. There are now homes in downtown Houston to fit anyone's style, and a number of them are conveniently located around the performance halls of the theatre district and the Main Street district.
Sports fans will love living in downtown, as the Astros, Rockets and Aeros all play in downtown stadiums. Main Street Square offers dancing fountains throughout the day and offers a dramatic scene as one of the MetroRail trains pass under.

When the weather is nice you'll find plenty to do outdoors. Discovery Green is a 12-acre park located right in the heart of downtown Houston with a lake, theater and dog runs. There's also Tranquility Park, Sam Houston Park, Buffalo Bayou Park (it's nicer than it sounds). Need a place to let Fido stretch his legs? There are plenty of downtown dog parks too.
