Why would anyone want to live in Downtown Dallas? Ten years ago that was a good question, but what a difference a decade can make! Highrise condos, lofts and apartments are going up everywhere bringing more full-time residents to the downtown district. With those residents have come restaurants, shops, nightlife and even downtown's first grocery store! The Main Street District is growing by leaps and bounds with hip new restaurants like Iron Cactus, Ten Sports Grill and Fuse. There's also the ubiquitous Starbucks and plenty of shopping, anchored by the very first Neiman Marcus.
Once the new Arts District is online, Downtown Dallas will really shine as the place to be. In the next few years, Dallas will build the new Winspear Opera House, Wyly Theater and two new parks all within walking distance of the existing Meyerson Symphony Center, Nasher Sculpture Center and Dallas Museum of Art.
In addition to all that, The Trinity River Corridor is scheduled to undergo a huge transformation into one of the nation's largest urban parks. The Trinity River park is expected to include an equestrian center, whitewater rafting, lakes, trails and bridges designed by Santiago Calatrava.
