Pass a Grille Condo Living

Pass a Grille is basically the end of the long line of islands that separates the mainland St. Petersburg peninsula from the Gulf of Mexico. It's a long, thin strip of land — about one fifth of its width is beach — that ends at the Pass a Grille Channel between Tampa Bay and the Gulf. This neighborhood is technically part of St. Petersburg Beach, but many of the locals tend to think of it as its own little world, surrounded by beautiful waters and lined with white sand.

The main strip in town is on 8th Avenue, where you'll find most of the boutiques, restaurants and services. There are a couple of bed-and-breakfast style hotels there, too. Merry Pier is over on the east end of 8th, on the bay side. On the gulf side, of course, is beach. Heading north, there's a park area between 9th and 10th, with a couple of (locally) famous seafood restaurants along the gulf coast. The rest of the neighborhood is mostly homes and parks, with some condo towers, hotels and community resources sprinkled around. Up near the 21st Avenue bridge, facing the Pass A Grille Marina complex, there are some shopping options that cater more to everyday essentials.

The number one reason people love living in Pass a Grille is hard to pin down. It could be the white-sand beaches, the laid-back atmosphere or the surprisingly independent local business scene. In the end, it all comes down to community for most residents: This is one of the most unique and charming little neighborhoods in the Tampa Bay Area.
