Whether you’re a local or just visiting, downtown Fort Worth has a lot to offer. Dozens of world-class restaurants, a hopping nightlife scene, theater, annual events, and more – there’s more than you could possible take in in a single night. But if a single night is all you have, we’ve got a few suggestions.
Take in Some History
Fort Worth was established in 1849, and much of its history is on proud display downtown. Admire the architecture of the Tarrant County Courthouse and the Flatiron Building, or visit the 150 Years of Fort Worth exhibit, hosted at the historic Fire Station Number 1.
See the Sights
From parks to public art, there’s plenty to see just by walking around downtown. The famous Fort Worth Water Gardens on Commerce Street are a must-see, combining art, architecture and nature. Lancaster Avenue’s Avenue of Lights features sky-high art deco sculptures that are especially breath-taking at night, when their multicolored LEDs light up. And Main Street is home to the Sid Richardson Museum, where western art of all kinds is on display seven days a week.
Downtown Fort Worth is home to so many restaurants, representing just about every cuisine imaginable, that it might be hard to just pick one. If you’re looking for a steakhouse, try Del Frisco’s Double Eagle Steak House, Mercury Chop House, or Ruth’s Chris. If you’re more in the mood for Tex-Mex, there’s Mi Cocina, Cantina Laredo, or the Texas cuisine at Reata. Want unique takes on American classics? Try Little Red Wasp, Bird Café, Grace, or The Capital Grille. Still can’t make up your mind? The Downtown Fort Worth website is a good place to see the whole list.
See a Show
The world-famous Bass Performance Hall hosts events throughout the year, from concerts to ballets to operas. If you’re in the mood for live theater, visit the Circle Theater or the Jubilee Theater. Looking for a laugh? Hyena’s Comedy Nightclub and Four Day Weekend have you covered.
Hit the Town
If you’re still looking for fun after the sun goes down, downtown Fort Worth has many options for nightlife. Visit Malone’s Pub, The Library Bar, or Flying Saucer for a drink. If you like music with your cocktails, Scat Jazz Lounge offers a unique underground experience, and Pete’s Dueling Piano Bar is loud, infectious fun.
Stay the Night
Exhausted by the night’s activities? Spend the night at one of downtown Fort Worth’s luxurious hotels. Omni Fort Worth, downtown’s newest hotel, offers upscale hospitality. In Sundance Square, there’s Etta’s Place, a bed and breakfast that exudes Southern charm. On Main Street, there’s the elegant Ashton Hotel and the luxurious Worthington Renaissance. These hotels and many more offer a good night’s sleep, not to mention the deluxe amenities.
Whatever you choose to do during your night in downtown Fort Worth, you’re sure to have a night to remember.
