What does $500k buy you in an Atlanta High-Rise?

Half a million dollars is a good chunk of change. It can buy you a lot of luxury and convenience if you know where to look in the Atlanta condo market. Here's a quick roundup of some of some hot high-rise buildings in Atlanta's most popular urban neighborhoods.

Downtown

When you talk about luxury condos for sale in downtown Atlanta, the first building that comes to mind is the W Residences at 45 Ivan Allen Junior Boulevard. The developers have sold all of these units after the tower was built in 2009, so you'd be buying on the secondary market. Bonus: The W Hotel facilities and staff give residents of the tower access to many more amenities than you might expect. Two-bedroom units are the hottest, going for $500,000 to $550,000.

Midtown

Viewpoint Condos

Just north is Midtown where you'll find the biggest variety of Atlanta condos.  Here $500,000 could get you a park-side Atlanta condo in the established Ansley Above the Park complex at 1130 Piedmont Avenue. For a more energetic urban feel — and for a lot more building amenities — take a look at the 400-plus-unit Spire on Peachtree or the ultra modern Viewpoint. You could expect a high-floor two-bedroom for $450,000 to 475,000.

Atlantic Station

The most notable property in the Atlantic Station area is The Atlantic high-rise. It's all about modern finishes with classic art deco style. This is a great location for an in-town close to museums, everyday shopping and all types of entertainment. Two-bedroom, two-and-a-half bathroom units sell for right around $500,000.

Buckhead

Buckhead used to be the highest-priced area in Atlanta, but now Midtown is right up there with it.  Half a million still won't get you what you could get in Downtown or Atlantic Station, so you’ll probably have to settle for a large one bedroom if you want to be a newer building. But if you love the area stay diligent, because occasionally you can find some real gems for sale. For example, there was recently a two-bedroom unit at Phoenix on Peachtree listed for $499,000 — and that included three parking spaces.
