The high-rise condo lifestyle is catching on in some unlikely places, like the Woodlands - a suburban community north of Houston. The Woodlands is more commonly known for large houses on huge lots, but now they are getting a 23-story high-rise tower called Treviso at Waterway Square. It seems that even in areas where there is plenty of land to develop the trend is to go up and not out.

According to the Houston Business Journal, the developers may start construction as soon as half of the 84 units are pre-sold and the tower may be completed as soon as Fall 2017. The large one- to three-bedroom homes at Treviso will start at $650,000 and range from 1247 - 3500+ square feet. Waterway Square is the "centerpiece" of the Woodlands Town Square which is

No, we haven’t gone on a diet, but recent news from developer Constructive Ventures could have us breathing a little easier by 2018.

According to the Austin American Statesmen, plans for a mixed used development on the 1.7 acre block at Third Street and West Avenue, former home of the Austin Energy Control Center, will include up to 400 new condominium units. The project will be sited just north of the Seaholm Condominiums, currently under construction, and west of the popular 360, in walking distance of…well, just about everything!

Financing considerations will dictate the precise start date, but Constructive Ventures and partner developer Aspen Heights are aiming for the fourth quarter of 2015. Construction is estimated to take two and a half years.

Sunny Isles is known for some of the most incredibly designed modern skyscrapers which line the North shore of Miami Beach.  This tall and narrow new building, named "Muse", will be a slender 47-stories tall and include 68 luxury high-rise condos.  The Sunny Isles condos will come with a sculpture made by  Helidon Xhixha, a famous Albanian artist.  Xhixha will even consult with each buyer to create a unique piece for every home.  Xhixha is best known for his manipulation of light by bending and twisting his medium into unique contemporary palettes of colorful reflections.  The condos will range in size from 2,360 to 5,800 square feet and will include two full floor penthouse condos.

After Boston officials have been discouraging the construction of new parking spaces to help the traffic congestion of the city, a new construction project in Lovejoy Wharf for 175 condos has been approved without any new additional parking.  This project is anticipated to be highly controversial.  Advocates of the project being built without parking argue that it will help with the long term vision of the city having more open spaces and high quality of life.  They cite statistics that one in three Boston residents are 20 to 35.  These residents often prefer to walk, bike or take public transportation which the developers see as one of the best in the nation.   Opponents are afraid that there is not enough momentum yet to go to a zero parking mindset
