Euclid Corridor unveiling today!

If you have been wondering what the purpose was for all the construction along Euclid Avenue the past few years or if you have even gotten used to it and avoided the street all together, you may want to re-visit the situation.

The Euclid Corridor or “Health Line” as it has been named by its Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital sponsors, will finally be unveiled today.  All 7.1 miles and $200 million dollars of this hybrid electric public transportation phenomenon is finally done!

The Health Line will connect Public Square with University Circle all the way to East Cleveland.  The best part about it is its all green.  The buses themselves are powered by electricity and clean burning diesel fuel and if you haven’t been down Euclid lately, you will be surprised to see that the streetscape might be the best part of the project.  Miles and miles of neglected road have been transformed by tree planting, new street lamps and bike paths to create something truly special.

It really makes you proud to be a Clevelander on a day that we can be a leader for the entire country by unveiling this sort of progressive technology and true advancement in public transportation.

The best part is, this is only the beginning for Euclid Avenue.  Billions of dollars in development are scheduled to follow along the strip connecting  University Circle to Public Square.  Euclid should soon re-claim its title of Cleveland’s main road and it will be an exciting thing to watch.

Curious? If you want to see this for yourself, they are offering free rides all weekend, so check it out!
