Living in Capitol Hill

Several historic landmarks can be found in Capitol Hill.  Pay your respects at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery Park, platted in 1896.  Take in the sights from the 360-degree vantage point provided by the Volunteer Park Water Tower, built in 1906.  Or strike a pose next to the iconic Jimi Hendrix statue, unveiled in 1997.

As home to various small performing arts theaters and dance studios, as well as two of Seattle’s best movie theaters, Capitol Hill appeals to the artist in everyone.  The neighborhood also boasts art of all types, shapes and sizes, as well as some of Seattle’s most admired architecture.

While exploring the neighborhood, have a dance on the bronze steps embedded in the sidewalk on Broadway.  You could witness the spontaneous eruption of a street party, or simply decide to people-watch from one of the neighborhood’s numerous coffee shops.  Outdoor lovers can take a jog through Louisa Boren Park and enjoy the unobstructed view of Lake Washington, with the Cascade Mountain Range as a stunning backdrop.  Or play a game on one of Cal Anderson Park’s outdoor chess boards.
