October is here, and with it comes fall festivals, pumpkin patches, crisp cool weather and the outdoors. We have compiled a list of some fall festivities for you and your family to enjoy.

Fall Festivities

Sept. 23-Nov. 22 Autumn at the Arboretum. Open daily from 9:00am-5:00pm. This year is their 12th annual Autumn at the Arboretum, using over 90,000 pumpkins, gourds, and squash to create a nationally recognized pumpkin village. This year’s theme is the Wonderful World of Oz. In addition to the pumpkin village guests can enjoy a haybale maze, the gorgeous fall foliage, and a pumpkin patch. The first official day of fall is this Friday, September 22, 2017. Now is a good time to get your condo or townhome ready for fall and winter. Here are a couple of tips to make sure you are ready.

  1. Check windows for drafts of air. A good tool is a lighter or candle; if the flame moves, more than likely you have a draft. Use caulk or weather stripping to seal drafts. 
  2. Put a rug or doormat just inside of your home. Wood floors, laminate flooring, and concrete floors are pretty popular here in North Texas so to prevent slipping and falling add a rug to wipe your feet.
  3. Make sure you change your ceiling fans turn in a clockwise motion. This takes the warm air from the ceiling and pushes it down, slightly cutting cost on your heating bill.

North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour (from 6am-midnight) online extravaganza of people donating money to support local nonprofits as well as build awareness. All of the nonprofits are located right here in North Texas. Since 2009, North Texas Giving Day has generated more than $156 million, for over 2,500 local nonprofits, and back into the North Texas Community. In 2016, over 142,000 people came together and raised $37 million benefiting 2,518 nonprofits. 

North Texas Giving Day allows you to choose which nonprofit you want to donate too. This year they have added a category to help the people and animals affected by Hurricane Harvey. Mayfest is Fort Worth's premier family-friendly festival! Located at 2401 University Drive, Fort Worth, 76107 along the bank of the Trinity River in Trinity Park.
