Fort Worth South, Inc is writing an exciting new chapter in the history of it’s historic and hip neighborhood.

In January FWSI officially re-named the area the "Near Southside" and hired Starr Tincup to assist in marketing the new vision for the neighborhood.

Improvements include; a great new logo that will be placed on everything from the organization's website to street toppers along their historic tree-lined avenues. Additionally a powerful new website will be launched in the coming months. The site is sure to be a wonderful resource for businesses and residents alike.

Finally, and most importantly, they have adopted new development standards and guidelines. In fact, they have recently been notified that they will receive an award from the Congress for the new urbanism. The new guidelines make future development in the area more streamlined and also more consistent with the overall vision for the Southside Urban Village. Zoning is no longer a mixed bag. Blocks are laid out thoughtfully allowing for different varitions of dense urban residential, commercial, and mixed-use development.

"The Design Guidelines are meant to aid and encourage redeveloment, while diligently respecting the integrity of Fort Worth South. They are a source of information detailing standards and goals that have been enbraced by the stakeholders of Fort Worth South, the zoning commission, city council, neighbors, and those with a vested interest in the redevelopment district." I feel the Near Southside is, at last, poised to grow into the large foundation of development it has been building for the past several years. With the Fort Worth economy booming, job creation holding strong and consumers appreciating the benefits of an urban lifestyle, the Near Southside is one of my picks for best potential explosive growth in the near future.
